Until late last night we got bombarded with Brussels sprouts!
Illustration: excerpt from comics by Pēteris Nebars
77 people sent comics for the Latvian Komiksu Konkurss 2013 with the theme 'Brussels sprouts'. 52 by female participants and 29 by male participants. Well and now don't think we are that bad at math, it is because some of the entries where collaborations. Quite impressed that there where four Lauras, but only one Jānis participating. The youngest participant was of course16 years old, and the oldest is 50, the average age is 24.7 years.
The comics are now sent to the Jury and in November there will be an exhibition and the winners will be announced. Already now is clear, that this is a big win for the Latvian comics scene! The quality of the works is very impressing and we hope that this competition will inspire Latvians to draw more and more comics!
Good luck and thanks a lot to all the participants, we hope to read many more comics from you in the future!
Big thanks also to the sponsors and the supporters of the competition!
